We Are All Beautiful
This past weekend I got some much needed time in the tractor cab. I Loved getting to listen to SXM Octane. I made note of several songs that jumped out at me, but was really impressed by Chad Gray’s release of his cover of “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera (written by Linda Perry). Gray said, “The song ‘Beautiful’ is a song about self-acceptance, finding your inner beauty, and overcoming insecurity.” I talk all the time about us all being unique human beings and that uniqueness makes every one of us “cool” in some way. This is one of those songs that reminds us of that.
Grays twist on the song touches an entirely different genre market than Aguilera. It is great that so many others will have the opportunity to be impacted by the songs message. The lines, “Cause we are beautiful no matter what they say; Yes, words won’t bring us down, no, no; We are beautiful in every single way” remind us that our worth is not determined by the opinions of others or by societal standards.
The lyrics emphasize the importance of recognizing one’s own beauty and value, regardless of external criticism. While negative comments can hurt, they don’t define us. True beauty comes from within. It is our individuality and unique qualities, which contribute to our overall worth. We need to celebrate each others’ differences and strengths instead of allowing the judgments of others affect our self-esteem.
